Founded in 1992, the EAA Young Eagles program has dedicated nearly 25 years to giving youth ages 8–17 their first free ride in an airplane. It’s the only program of its kind, with the sole mission to introduce and inspire kids in the world of aviation. Today, the Young Eagles program has flown nearly 2 million kids with the help of EAA’s network of volunteer pilots and ground volunteers, in which Chapter 33 is
proud to be an active member.
How it Works
We host events at various airports throughout eastern Iowa during the summer months. Children ages 8-17 are welcome to attend, accompanied by a parent or guardian who will be required to sign permission before the flight. Experienced local pilots will then give give your young aspiring aviators the experience of a lifetime – their first airplane ride! Afterwards, a certificate is issued and the flight is entered into the “World’s Largest Logbook”. The “World’s Largest Logbook” and other information on the Young Eagles Program can be viewed online at www.youngeagles.org. Check our Event Calendar to see when and where the next Young Eagles Rally will be taking place!
